After considering starting a blog for a few months, and wondering if I had anything worthwhile to share, I have finally decided to just go for it. Looking back on the last few years I have come to realize that I have been through enough highs and lows, milestones and adventures that I could probably fill a novel. The great thing is that even if I don’t reach many people, I think I will really enjoy the process of putting my life on paper.
I am Kristen; I’m 27 years old, a wife to a loving handsome manly man, Mommy to the sweetest 1 year old and beautiful fur baby Callie, daughter to two very inspiring parents, big sister to the best siblings, and lover of crafts & DIY projects. I’ve grown up in Orange County my whole life with my brother and sister. We have been blessed to have the greatest parents, who just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year after meeting at 14 years old, they have been my inspiration to find love and work hard to create a fun and loving home like the one we grew up in.
After graduating from CSU Fullerton with my degree in Communications in 2009, and unable to find a full time job right away, I was working as a sales rep for 24 Hour Fitness when this super buff guy who had certainly caught my attention asked me on a date. Fast-forward five and a half years and here we are, married with a dog and a baby, we’ve flipped our first home and we own our second fixer upper.
We were married September 21, 2012 at the Coto de Caza Country Club on probably the hottest day of the year. Mitch and my brother made a beautiful arbor that we stood under and vowed to spend our lives together; this arbor began my vision for our family home. Our home search began right away, however it was not a smooth as we hoped it would be. In a market full of investors we were outbid on ten plus homes before finding our diamond in the (very) rough.
We moved forty-five minutes away from our current neighborhood where we found a little 1940’s two-bedroom two-bath house on a huge lot with a pool (that pool helped us look past just how big of a project we had on our hands). The 9,000-sqft lot was covered in weeds, the walls were wood paneled throughout with dirty carpet and outdated features everywhere you looked.
Two years later, all our hard work paid off and we sold our home after only 2 days on the market and bought our dream house. We’re back in our hometown, close to our families and in a home our family has plenty of space to grown into. But if you know us at all, you know we didn’t just buy our dream house…we’ve bought another fixer upper, and we can’t wait to make it our own.
